Summary

The article states the reasons which are used to provide the mandatory state final certification in mathematics in the form of an external independent survey for all 11th grade students in Ukraine since 2021. One of the major factors of such step was the results of the international monitoring study PISA, which showed that Ukrainian students do not have enough practical skills to apply acquired knowledge. In the current educational system, the requirements for expected studying outcomes in various subjects are being changed. Today the main accents are shifting towards the formation of competencies and they become the object of control during the state final certification and external independent evaluation. The evolution of implementation of external independent evaluation in Ukraine and the stages of implementation state final certification in various subjects are described. The importance of developing mathematical competence in students as one of the key competencies of the New Ukrainian School is outlined. The contradictory views that have arisen among teachers about implementation of such an examination are analyzed. The authors surveyed maths teachers from Mykolaiv oblast; concerning the implementation of the mandatory state final certification in athematics in the form of the external independent survey for all 11th grade students. In the article the results of the survey are summarized. The survey shows that most teachers do not support this innovation. Teachers expressed opinions concerning the inexpediency of the implementation of the compulsory maths exam in 2021 due to the overload of students with school subjects and the impossibility of quality training in current conditions (pandemic, quarantine). The authors highlight the main reasons of their visions and analyze the factors indicated by teachers. According to the authors; viewpoints the implementation of the mandatory state final certification in the form of external independent evaluation will have a positive effect on mproving the quality of school science- maths education
