Summary
The development of Ukrainian society through the search for starting points that will promote the Ukrainian national idea, which would absorb the basic ideas about state formation in the Ukrainian geopolitical space, remains an urgent issue. This is especially evident in Ukrainian political thought of the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. The basic concept of MS Hrushevsky 's Ukrainian national idea is analyzed.
