Summary

This scientific publication highlights the content of a professional development program for preschool teachers focused on teaching English to senior preschoolers. Historical analysis reveals a steady evolution of English language instruction in Ukrainian preschools. This instruction transitioned from initial steps in 1993 to becoming an official option in 2012 and a necessary condition in 2021. Ultimately, these changes led to mandatory English education for senior preschoolers starting September 2026. Current English language instruction is regulated by laws, state standards, and methodological recommendations undergoing updates due to educational reforms. This justifies the necessity of modern, practice-oriented professional development programs for educators. The article analyzes academic sources and identifies contemporary approaches tailored to the developmental characteristics and needs of children aged 5 to 6 in language acquisition. The study examines a professional development program created according to requirements for high-quality and relevant training that meets the needs of modern Ukrainian education. The publication presents the curriculum Modern Technologies of Teaching English in Preschool Education developed by the Mykolaiv In-Service Teachers Training Institute. The program features a modular approach where the theoretical block is combined with practical tools. Special emphasis is placed on the integration of international strategies such as the Cambridge methodology, Total Physical Response (TPR), and Content and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL) with Ukrainian pedagogical experience. This is realized through the manual Fun English for Preschoolers within the regional partial program Ukrainian Wreath. Mykolaiv Region.
