Summary

The methodological article examines the importance of the research method of teaching in the process of forming scientific thinking of schoolchildren in the context of implementing the concept of the «New Ukrainian School». One of the guidelines for implementing the aforementioned concept is the preparation of students capable of critical thinking, being creative when solving problems, and independently processing information. Accordingly, the research method of teaching plays an important role in the formation of competencies necessary for life in the modern world. The emphasis is placed on the use of research as an effective means of developing analytical skills, critical thinking, and the ability to work with sources of scientific information. The research method contributes not only to the acquisition of theoretical knowledge, but also to the acquisition of practical experience in conducting experiments, analyzing the results obtained, and formulating one’s own conclusions. The methodological principles of implementing the research method in the educational process, their impact on students’ cognitive activity and ability to independently formulate scientific hypotheses are determined. Special attention is paid to the integration of this method in teaching biology, which allows students to apply the acquired knowledge in practice and develop interest in the subject. The features of the organization of research tasks that simulate real scientific research are considered. The results of using the research method in the biology education process are analysed, with a particular focus on its impact on the development of a culture of scientific thinking, independent knowledge acquisition skills, and readiness for innovation among students. A comprehensive research task in biology for 7th grade students has been developed, covering all the main stages of scientific knowledge in accordance with the concept of the New Ukrainian School and providing ways to integrate the research method into the educational process. The task is aimed at forming scientific thinking in schoolchildren through a holistic combination of theoretical knowledge with practical activities, which contributes to the development of key competencies of students.
